A sixteenth Century pub at the heart of the community
Meet the Team
A Fresh Chapter at 'The George'
We’re Katie & Carl Williams - the new couple behind the pub - and we’re working hard to create a place where everyone likes to come for great food, enjoy local hospitality and a warm welcome.
Carl is a chef with over 35 years of experience at some of London’s most respected kitchens, from The Connaught in Mayfair to the historic clubs of St James’s. He’s cooked for royalty and Hollywood names - but this new venture matters most, because it’s rooted in home. Carl grew up in Sevenoaks , went to school here, and now he’s bringing his expertise to the village.
Katie brings energy and warmth out front and leadership behind the scenes, shaped through years of working with British Airways where service and customer care are everything.
Many locals may know us from Tandem Catering, Life on High or from the meals we delivered across Sevenoaks during lockdown. Carl’s reputation as the local Fine Dining Chef is something we’re excited to now establish in the heart of the community at The George.
We’re also here as a family - with our sons Jamie (18) and Robbie (15) - who both grew up in the local area, attended Chevening Nursery and Primary, and now study at Bennett. This is very much our home and our community.
Charlie Weston – Head Chef
Our kitchen wouldn’t be the same without Charlie. 16 years he has been with us at the pub & living locally in Sundridge, Charlie understands exactly what our guests love and has helped shape the menu into what it is today.
Working closely alongside Carl, to deliver dishes that celebrate quality ingredients, flavour and seasonal inspiration. Loyal, dedicated and always pushing new ideas, Charlie is a key part of the pub’s journey.
Fun fact - Charlie is a twin
Kayley Stringer – Manager
If you’ve ever visited our pub, chances are you’ve already met Kayley. She’s been part of the family for over 16 years, growing up from a young team member into the heartbeat of our day-to-day operations.
Having grown up in Chipstead and now living in Tonbridge, Kayley continues to bring a genuine local spirit to everything she does. Her loyalty, attention to detail and passion for hospitality are second to none, making her an instrumental part of our success and the friendly face many of our guests know and love.
Fun fact - Kayley used to play for Chelsea Ladies !!
We’ve already introduced Carl, Katie, Charlie and Kayley & now it’s time to shine a light on even more of the wonderful people who make our pub what it is.
Georgina
Celebrating 10 years with us, Georgina is known for her warmth and her natural ability to make every guest feel completely at home. A proud mum of two, Georgina balances hectic family life with working at the pub…..always with a smile.
Fun fact: Georgina spent 20 years as a ballroom and Latin dancer!
Ben
A huge thank you to Ben, who has been part of the pub’s story for what feels like forever - popping in and out between uni, work and life, but always returning back to us. He’s been helping here since he was about 12 years old which says everything about his love for the George.
Fun fact - A biochemist by training, Ben would much rather chat about the science behind brewing our ales and we love him for it.
Front-of-House Superstars
Our wider front-of-house crew keeps the pub buzzing with warmth, personality and exceptional service. Huge appreciation for:
Sam, Luke , Claire, Izzy, Isla, Chloe, Amelie, Dylan, Oli, Jed, Dan, Annie, Amber, Claudia, Megan, Oli, Eleanor, and of course our brilliant university crew who return year after year.
We’re proud of the generations of staff- siblings, cousins, children of past team members who have continued the tradition and kept our pub’s spirit alive.
Kitchen Team - The Heart Behind the Food
In the kitchen, we’re lucky to have a talented team of chefs: Fernando, Tomaz, Pete, and pastry chef Eva.
Backing them up with nonstop hard work and good humour is Jamie who’s been with us for years & the team of KPs.
A Family Through and Through
At our core, we are …and always have been …a family team. Many of our staff are brothers, sisters, children or relatives of team members who came before them. Several have been with us for over a decade, and countless more return year after year.
A solid team. A happy pub. And a family we’re incredibly proud of.
