The George and Dragon Chipstead

Since the time of King Henry VIII the George & Dragon, Chipstead has been offering hospitality to locals and visitors. Renovated by new owner Benjamin James in 2009, his mission was to breathe life back into a beautiful but tired sixteenth-century pub, using tasteful decor, a roaring log fire and a menu that changes daily and uses the best of what the local, organic farms in Kent, Sussex, and Surrey have to offer.

The real open fire, heavy oak beams, solid furnishings and original features make this gastropub the perfect venue for a casual lunch, dinner with friends, or romantic dinner for two.

At its heart the George & Dragon, Chipstead remains a local village pub, offering a warm welcome, friendly hospitality and excellent food.  Everything is fresh, seasonal and where possible local.

We went for Sunday lunch to celebrate a special birthday and were looked after really well. The vegetarian choice and mini person's menu choices were notably good.

Wasn't sure what to expect, its a beautiful old pub, but doesnt serve "pub" food! The food was amazing and delicious. I have now eaten there several times and the menu changes each time...i'm told they change it twice a day...The staff were knowledgable, friendly and welcoming. Best of all, the food is local and fresh. This is a little piece of heaven and I can't wait to visit in the summer and sit in the English herb garden. Well done George and Dragon!
